| Job Duties and Responsibilities | Technical training specialist within the SPAWAR Institute (SI) functional area of Information Assurance/Computer Network Defense (IA/CND). Work with SPAWAR Engineers and Acquisition groups to ensure that they understand training requirements associated with IA/CND products. Evaluate existing curriculum for compliance with Navy training standards and proposing enhancements to meet these standards. Develop and update training materials in accordance with Navy training standards as required. Present instruction at CONUS and OCONUS locations. Conduct Job Task Analyses and Manpower Analyses in support of newly fielded IA/CND products. Participate in the transition of SPAWAR Institute-developed training products to Training Agent. Respond to client requests and questions. Provide input into logistics, acquisition, and engineering documentation. May test and operate firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems and software deployment tools. May also safeguard local networks against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction or disclosure. Provide information regarding the negative impact caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information. Provide recommendations on information assurance engineering standards, implementation dependencies, and changing information assurance related technologies. |
| Qualifications | Requires Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, and two to four years of related experience or appropriate certifications with experience. One or more of the following IA-related certifications is desired: SANS Institute GIAC Security Expert (GSE), SANS Institute GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC), ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ISC2 Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP), SecurityCertified.Net Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA), Computing Technology Industry Association Security+ (SEC+). Experience must include all or most of the following products: Cisco Routers and Switches, Windows Server 2003, Windows Exchange Server 2003, Windows Server 2000, Windows Exchange Server 2000, Integrated Shipboard Network System, Eeye Retina, Citadel Hercules Enterprise Vulnerability Management Software, McAfee Host-Based Security System, Internet Security Systems RealSecure. Desired additional experience/familiarity includes: NAVEDTRA 130, Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) II, Release 3.3, DoD Security and Accreditation Policies and Procedures, U.S. Navy training Policies and Procedures. One or more of the following Training/Instructor Qualifications: Qualified Navy Instructor (NEC 9502), Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+). |
