Position Summary:

Student Housing is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 6 housing communities and 3 support units, with more than 280 staff employees, 300-400 student employees and an annual operating budget of $120 million. Student Housing provides housing for approximately 9,000 undergraduates, graduate students and their families in over 250 buildings and approximately 3.3 million sq. ft. Currently, Student Housing houses 45% of UCI's enrolled students (in conjunction with American Campus Communities, UCI's 3rd party housing partner) with a goal of housing 60% as part of the campus Long Range Development Plan (LRDP). Student Housing also provides maintenance and repair services to student residents.

Under general direction, the Student Programming Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the Anteater Living & Learning (A.L.L.) curricular approach and model for Student Housing's Resident Housing Association (RHA) programs for the undergraduate residents. The incumbent is responsible for assisting and/or overseeing the evaluation process for the Resident Housing Association programming efforts. Provides direction, support, and supervision for 10 student staff who serve on the Resident Housing Association Programming Board. Through their evaluative and assessment efforts of all Resident Housing Association programs is also responsible for incorporating changes based upon their assessment findings. Develops and demonstrates cultural competencies to foster inclusive excellence in the undergraduate residential communities. Fosters an environment that supports and promotes a learning-centered and resident focused organization. Serves on departmental and campus committees.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $24.71 - $28.00 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $24.71 - $41.86 (Hourly Rate).

Required:

2 - 3 years of experience working in a college residential environment.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs such as Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn university specific software. Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Understanding of University rules and regulations. Interpersonal and cultural competence skills to effectively communicate with and support a wide variety of people of diverse backgrounds, including understanding and respect for cultural, ethnic and individual differences. Skills in active listening, critical thinking, negotiation, problem solving, reasoning, organizing, written and verbal communication; multitasking and intercultural competence. Ability to compose reports, letters, instructions, and other documents with attention to clarity, tone, composition, and mechanics. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning. Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of constituencies including administrators, staff, students, and vendors. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in group/team settings. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines. Ability to work independently and to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision. Skill in taking initiative, setting priorities, and managing time to complete work in a timely manner. Skills in project management. Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy and professionalism. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a broad variety of individuals in person, on the phone, and in writing. Demonstrated ability to build and develop strong communities. Skill in programming educational and social activities for students. Knowledge of graduate student needs and concerns, group living needs and challenges. Ability to create, improve, and monitor work standards, procedures and systems that ensure effective service delivery.

Special Conditions Required:

Must pass background check and DMV clearance required. Must be willing to assist in the event of an emergency/ natural disaster. Must be willing to work occasional overtime, nights, and weekends.
