DEPARTMENT: FAMILY CARE CENTER

POSITION TITLE: CHILD CARE FLOATER

STATUS: NON-EXEMPT - Part Time

PAY RANGE: $17.50

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
* High school diploma, desirable
* 1-2 years of experience working with children of various ages

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
* Must have a distinctive philosophy of education which is in agreement with the overall philosophy and goals of The Salvation Army.
* Must be in good health and shall be physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks and meet the demands of the classroom.
* Ability to facilitate learning in any age group and maintain a safe environment in the classroom for all children.
* Must have a valid Driver's License.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Treat each child with dignity and respect; being sensitive and responsive to the needs of all the children at all times and be concerned for their safety and well-being.
* Assist with providing necessary breaks for teachers.
* Prepare daily snacks for children, and distribute to classrooms during scheduled snack breaks.
* Assist teachers with providing academic support to children as they participate in new learning models: Distance Learning Academy and Hybrid Learning Models.
* Act as a substitute in any classroom if needed.
* Provide supervision on the playground or in any classroom when needed.
* Use curriculum/activities planned by teachers.
* Drive the FCC van when requested to assist in transportation of children to and from school or on field trips.
* Assist with kitchen and general cleanliness to meet proper standards required for the health and safety of students and teachers.
* Follow all guidelines and supervision rules when working.
* Attend staff meetings when work schedule permits.
* Reinforce good behavior and encourage positive attitudes.
* Work when called on Sundays, occasional Saturdays, and evenings.
* Any other tasks as assigned by the Family Care Center Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed is reasonable and no undue hardship would result.

* Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
* Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
* Ability to operate telephone.
* Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes).
* Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
* Ability to understand written information.
* Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

MENTAL DEMANDS:
* Able to work under stressful conditions.
* Interact with co-workers, guests, officers, etc. with courtesy and respect.
* Manage and prioritize multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner.
* Respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
* Prioritize multiple work tasks to meet deadlines.
* Maintain confidentiality.
* Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.

SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
* Basic computer skills.
* Able to use Microsoft Outlook.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will take place in and around the Crestmont College campus and on various off campus locations.
