The Data Governance Officer (DGO) is responsible for defining and implementing the Enterprise Data Governance Program. Responsible for data analytics, governance, standards, quality and lifecycle management along with the exploration of data assets to create business value. Serves as a point of escalation for governance and data quality issues. Builds and maintains collaborative partnership and alignment with business stakeholders, Information Security and Information Technology to improve the quality and value of core data assets. Partners closely with organization's Information Security and Information Technology leadership responsible for data storage, infrastructure, and security.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ROADMAP and FRAMEWORK:

  • Define, implement and maintain an enterprise wide data governance roadmap and framework.
  • Establish and manage an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of data-based capabilities.
  • Framework that focuses on improvement of data quality, through the development of organizational policies and standards, governance metrics, processes, training, related tools and data architecture that align to industry best practices while ensuring compliance with internal governance and external regulatory requirements.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's principal core data assets.

STANDARDS & PROTOCOLS:

  • Establish standards and protocols for effective data quality management across the enterprise (e.g., data lineage, data cataloging, metadata, and data glossary) in collaboration with the business and Information Security for adoption across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with business partners, data management stakeholders and the IT departments to identify and document core data elements, including metadata, lineage and business rules for in-scope systems.
  • Develop and maintain inventory of the enterprise data maps, including authoritative systems and respective owners.

REPORTING

  • Define performance and quality metrics to support compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
  • Develop and maintain status reports covering data governance and activities.

CONSULTATION

  • Support both the everyday needs of data processing, inquiry and reporting, and provide expertise and consult on all major data-related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior management, support functions, Information Security and Information Technology to resolve data inventory, accuracy and integrity issues.
  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of data assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years' experience required in data management with expertise and experience building, implementing, and maintaining data governance programs.
  • Experience doing data governance at a Bank
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and management practices
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets.
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Extensive knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology related to management of enterprise data assets required.
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills required and ability to analyze and make effective, business-centric recommendations to business leaders and senior management.
  • Strong background in project management and implementation required.
  • Must be able to work out of one of our Southern, CA offices or our Denver, CO location. If outside of Irvine, CA please note you will be required to travel to our corporate headquarters located in Irvine, CA monthly for a minimum of one week.

A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base salary or pay for this position is $156,719.20 to $235,078.80. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. A discretionary bonus and/or business line incentive may be provided, in addition to a medical and other benefits, dependent on the position.
